Mr. Edmonds
Grade 1 - D202
Practices and Protocols
If your child’s end-of-day dismissal will be different than what we have on file in the main office, you are required to send in a note.
When writing a note, please be sure to include: my name and room number (D202), your child’s first and last name, who will be picking up your child and at what time, as well as the date.

If you wish to dismiss your child early for any reason, a note is also greatly appreciated by the main office and myself. This allows me to provide your child with any necessary paperwork and have him/her ready for your arrival ahead of time.

A note is required if your child will be taking a different bus at the end of the day. Please send in the Bus Pass with your child on that day.
Dismissal
Snack
We have a snack break each day. Please send in one, small snack for your child.
School Lunch
& Milk
If you are planning to buy lunch or milk, you can pay in advance through the"My School Bucks" website, or send in a check or cash with your child.
At this time, lunch is free for all students.

Birthdays
We love to celebrate birthdays! However, please be aware that at Burgess, we no longer celebrate birthdays with food items. We are more than happy to have you provide other “goodies,” such as pencils, stickers, erasers, bookmarks, or any other little item of interest.
In our room, the Birthday Kid will have the choice of picking which song (from our birthday playlist) the whole class "rocks out" to in honor of his/her special day. I make sure to also do "half-birthdays" for those born in the summer so everyone gets a chance to celebrate.
If you wish to have your child pass out invitations to his/her birthday party, please have invitations either for everyone in the class OR for all of the boys/girls. In the event that your child is celebrating with just a few friends, we ask that these invitations be sent outside of school.

Rewarding Positive Behavior
This year, we’ll be encouraging positive skills by being "Bucket Fillers." Each student has their own personal bucket and they will earn pom-poms to fill it. Pom-poms can be earned for using kind words, showing respect, lending a helping hand, being a good friend or hard worker, staying on task, following directions, etc. Throughout the year, students will be able to redeem their pom-poms for coupons that offer fun experiences, as well as some books, toys/prizes, and more!
Bucket Fillers
Secret Student
Each morning I will place a student's name into our "Secret Student" Envelope that is located on the board. Throughout the day I will check in on my “Secret Student." If the “Secret Student” did what is expected of them and made strong choices, their name will be revealed and they will choose a prize at the end of the day. If a student did not display expected behaviors, I will not reveal their name. As a class, we will reflect on areas where our day could have been better.
We will work as a team to fill our "Star Jar." When the whole class is following directions and demonstrating what it means to be Burgess Bears (being Brave, an Excellent citizen, Always responsible, Respectful, and Safe), they are rewarded with an “Oh Yeah!” point. However, if students are collectively making a weak choice, they are given an “Oh Oops!” point. If the “Oh Yeah!” side has the most tally marks at the end of each day, we will add a star to the Star Jar. When the jar is completely full, our class will earn and vote on a special class reward!
