At Home Learning Resources
In first grade, we use Wilson's Fundations program for explicit phonics instruction. We focus on reading and writing words with specific phonics patterns each week, as well as "trick words."

This packet contains helpful information about the program, as well as plenty of at-home practice pages and activities for every unit.

Reading Eggs

First grade students have access to the fun and educational reading website, Reading Eggs! We use this program during our Reading block.   Reading Eggs makes learning to read interesting and engaging with great online reading games and activities.

Additional Reading Resources
This year, we will be implementing a new math curriculum called "Bridges."

The following comes from the Bridges website: "Bridges in Mathematics is a comprehensive PK–5 curriculum that equips teachers to fully address state standards in a rigorous, engaging, and accessible manner. Students gain a deep understanding of concepts, proficiency with key skills, and the ability to solve complex problems. The curriculum is composed of three distinct but integrated components: Problems & Investigations, Work Places, and Number Corner.

This is a curriculum that has a unique blend of direct instruction, structured investigation, and open exploration. It also incorporates an engaging selection of visual models, manipulatives, games, apps and other unique learning materials.  Students will be seeing, touching, and sketching ideas create pictures in the mind’s eye, helping learners construct, understand, and apply mathematical ideas. Bridges incorporates increasingly complex visual models, including the number line and the array models, in a coherent framework across the curriculum."
